Equity and Accessibility in Active and Sustainable Travel

How can we identify the gaps in Hamilton’s active and sustainable transportation data, policies, programs, and services with a focus on equity and accessibility?

Project Description:

There are national (e.g., Government of Canada, 2024) and local efforts (e.g., school travel program and CityLAB Fall 2023 project addressing gender gap in cycling) to address the gaps in active and sustainable travel participation. However, there is currently no approach to tracking and addressing the gaps in active and sustainable transportation services from an equity and accessibility perspective. Thus, this proposed project will address this gap with a focus on creating solutions that improve active and sustainable transportation for all ages and abilities.
