Esther Kok (She/Her)
I am currently a third year Biodiversity and Environmental Science student at McMaster University. I chose to study plants, animals, and climate because I have a general curiosity and enjoyment of the great outdoors, and wanted to learn how to protect it in a meaningful way. In the future, I want to put my degree to use in a field that allows me to work towards conservation, serve my Hamilton community, and challenges me creatively. CityLAB SIR is encouraging me to explore the ways in which the City of Hamilton could peruse conservation, and how environmental justice is integral to climate resiliency. Learning about design, city building, and dialogue has me thinking critically about Hamilton's current systems and the way that I engage with both the city and my neighbors.
